Releasing the genius and ambition of the individual woman

Womentoring:

In 2005, the Womentum founders created Womentoring, a program intended to foster women’s professional and personal growth. Womentoring enables a diverse group of women to perform community service in Jackson Hole in a meaningful way by committing time and energy to their own growth, as well as that of others. Womentum believes that by developing and/or enhancing skills participants have identified as useful to them personally, mentees and mentors can improve their communities on a micro-level, as well as on the macro-level.

Mentoring is a fundamental form of human growth in which one person invests time, energy, and personal know-how in assisting in the growth and ability of another person. The only unbreakable rule about facilitated mentoring is that the relationship and program itself be designed for maximum flexibility.

A recent study on the status of women in Wyoming conducted by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research stressed the importance of closing the wage gap, encouraging women to run for office, and increasing the level of education of women in Wyoming.  Womentoring strives to address issues within these goals on the local level by providing support, encouragement, and growth opportunities for individual women.

The first Womentoring program, a six-month pilot, took place during the first half of 2006 with ten mentoring pairs. The second Womentoring program, nine months in length, took place September 2007 through May 2008. The group consisted of eight mentoring pairs ~ a more ideal size than ten for fostering healthy small group dynamics, and facilitating bi-monthly small group dinners.
